Between 1998 and 2001, I was TV critic for the Wolverhampton-based Express & Star, writing six columns a week based on one or more of the previous evening's programmes: a random selection of them follows. Inevitably, such repeated exposure to so much drivel finally took its toll. And please forgive the odd lapses in punctuation, spelling etc. At the time my copy was being typed up by a secretary whose sanity had been eroded by inputting the daily avalanche of mostly rabid and incoherent letters from E&S readers.
